Frequently Asked Questions

What is ‘Balance Your Bobbies’?

Balance Your Bobbies is a fresh and innovative way for you, the public, to let us know what is important to you. Your responses inform your local Neighbourhood Policing Teams of key issues specific to your community, and by Balancing your Bobbies you will be able to inform your District Inspector where you believe his/her neighbourhood policing resources should be spent.

Will my vote matter?

Your opinion on local policing priorities is extremely important to us. Your vote, alongside those from all residents within your Ward, will be followed closely by your District Inspector and Neighbourhood policing team. The District Inspector will have the discretion to change the neighbourhood policing service delivered in your area in light of the responses. Information about what the District Inspector intends to do with the information submitted will appear on this website.

How do I find out who my Neighbourhood Policing Team is?

If you search for your neighbourhood by typing in your postcode, or by clicking through the neighbourhood maps your Neighbourhood Policing Team will be displayed along with a link to contact them.

I have a priority that isn’t included on the website

If there is an issue important to you that isn’t one of the options to vote on, have a look in the list labelled “Any other priorities important to you for future surveys?”. If there is an issue in this list that you wish to highlight to us then select it here and it will be counted by your Neighbourhood Team.

If we notice a high number of votes for one of these options it will be included in the main priorities list.
